Just because we notice labels doesn't make us superficial.
We prefer the term "observant."
If we're judging?oops, observing?others, they're probably checking us out too. And Versace,
Dior and Manolo aren't exactly in the budget.
Unless, of course, we're shopping Rodeo Drive Resale, a California consignment shop
offering new and pre-owned designer duds for a fraction of the retail price.
This amazing online boutique carries runway-worthy items like Prada skirts, Gucci mules and D&G shades.
Finally, we can afford to stock up on Chloe tops, Marc Jacobs jackets & Carolina Herrera dresses
(with the knowledge that they may have come straight from the personal wardrobe or onscreen outfit of a celeb).
Not that we're into the name game or anything.
Shop online at Rodeodriveresale.com.

We all remember how Julia Roberts' character in Pretty Woman was treated on Rodeo Drive. But at Rodeo Drive Resale, shoppers will find all the fashion without the prissy, 10-percent-commission butt-kissers.
It's not on Rodeo Drive, but perhaps that's a bonus, because the prices are not what you'd find on that pricey thoroughfare. The resale shop sells high-end, mint-condition consignment items and once-worn designer duds from TV shows, movies and runway shows. Twentysomething entrepreneurs Raya Premji and Aly Jaffer opened their resale store for young, label-conscious fashionistas and celebrity stylists alike. Although shoppers can find St. John knits and tweed Chanel suits, the clothes, shoes and accessories are not all Bev Hills Brahmins. There are, recently, Dolce & Gabbana hot pink suede sneakers, Blue Cult jeans and beaded Marc Jacobs cardigans; however, the inventory changes daily and sizes are limited. Shoppers will delight to see vintage Pucci, modern Gucci and hoochie-mama Versace at 25-80 percent off retail. We won't tell (and no one else will be able to tell) you weren't the first ones to step out in those Jimmy Choos.

Consignment Shopping Tips
Anyone can shop consignment, but to be great at it, make your friends swoon with jealousy, and save big bucks, all you need are some tips and a little patience. Fashion expert and owner of high-end LA consignment boutique Rodeo Drive Resale (www.rodeodriveresale.com), Raya Premji shares 7 tips that will help you become a world-class bargain shopper.
1. Know your price range before shopping. Consignment shops differ in price ranges, so know your budget before picking a store. If you are looking to spend $10 - $20, you should look at going to a lower-end resale store. For high-end designers, only go to high-end consignment shops.
2. Only shop at reputable resale stores. Many resale stores sell fakes, and may not even know it, so make sure the store has a 100% Authenticity Guarantee. Items should be thoroughly evaluated by the store or by a representative at the respective designer house whose name appears on the item itself.
3. Don't be in a rush. Consignment stores have so much at great discount; you have got to take your time looking. Unlike a department store, there are usually very few of each item, so take your time going through each rack. To score the best deals and items, don't rush.
4. Never go by the label size on the item. All designers size their items differently, so you must always try on the items before buying. As for online retailers, the store should list exact measurements, like Rodeo Drive Resale not only gives the size, S, M, or L, but also exact waist and chest measurements. You should also be aware if they accept returns or give store credit.
5. Only buy items in like-new condition. You should only shop at stores that sell excellent condition items, and always review the condition of the item before purchasing it. Never accept items that have holes, stains or tarnished in any way.
6. Sign up on their guest book and personal shopper lists. At Rodeo Drive Resale, the store will call you whenever your listed item comes in.
7. Make friends with the sales people. New items come in daily, and often times items don't even make it onto the rack, so stop into the store once a week.

Sometimes I am slow to get out to research a source filed away in my leads folder. Ages ago I fell upon a website for Rodeo Drive Resale, went .ohh and filed it away to look into later. This last August as I was recommending better discount sources to the producers of Great Finds on KCAL, I found they already had Rodeo Drive Resale. I still had not gone in. A "post it" note went on the computer monitor to remind me to get to it. 3 months went by and still I hadn't made it in.that is until today, when while tidying my desk I came across the old post it. I grabbed my bag and jump in the car and finally got to it.
Resale apparel stores can run the gamut from nearly thrift to couture boutique. I prefer the later cause if it's technically used apparel, it should be couture. Rodeo Drive Resale is all that an upscale couture reseller of clothes should be. This elegant, organized boutique is where hip stylish women go to get the good stuff for a lot less. 50%-90% off original retail on either new or mint condition women's high-end designer apparel shoes and accessories.
Couture resale isn't cheap shopping, it's smart, budget minded wardrobe building. It's where you hunt for the perfect couture evening gown, or high-end blazer or the designer jeans you normally couldn't even think about buying. It's where you can actually find labels like St John Knits, J.P. Tod, Manolo Blahnik, Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Christian Dior, Miu Miu, Anna Sui, Donna Karen, Escada, Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Celine, Alberto Makali, Sue Wong and other name dropping designers for less.
Rodeo Drive resale is famous for their excellent selection of couture bags and shoes. Owner Raya, gets lots of her pieces from studios, Beverly Hills boutiques, celebrities and stylists. So they run from urban hip to classic couture. An amazing Prada leather bag was marked $489. Regular retail is upwards of $1600. I spotted handbags by Gucci, Fendi, Tod's, Paloma Picasso and the all elusive Louis Vuitton all at some serious savings.
A pair of Manolo Blahnik sexy heeled sandals would normally bite into your budget at $480. Here, worn once down a runway they're $198. Some tastefully sexy Chanel evening pumps retail around $210. Here, gently used they're $98. Some leather sling backs by Stephanie Kelian were an easier price at $89.99 instead of $170. A really nice pair of Prada heeled thongs were priced at $149 instead of roughly $350.
The clothes were gorgeous, like new and by some of the most sought after designers around. The D & G knit suit was sweet at $65. Expect to pay at least $550 or more for this. A very bright lemon yellow jogging suit was $98 instead of $200. The blue leather ostrich embossed pant suit by Christian Dior was stunning and at $199 a steal. A classic black dress by Donna Karan was $198. I feel in love with the chiffon wrap pants by Thierry Mugler for $89 instead of new at $289. Some Roberto Cavvalli Jeans were well priced at $89. These can run upwards of $340. A Jean Paul Gautier silk blouse was $80. They had a good assortment of higher end trendy jeans by Blue Cult, Fendi, Earl, Paper Denin and Joie from $49-$69. Plus a nice selection of evening and special occasion.
The service at Rodeo Drive Resale is excellent with knowledgeable and friendly help. They will start a client profile on you and call you when your favorite designers come in in your size. Combining both tasteful classic designers and cutting edge is difficult at best, but Rodeo Drive Resale succeeds at both with a great selection for all couture minded fashionistas. This is must stop for those of us who always want the best for less.

Raya's picky, only choosing the very best, most current items for her boutique.
Rodeo Drive resale is famous for their amazing selection of couture bags and shoes. A highly sought after bag by Lambertson Truex was $500 instead if $2000 and a new suede fringe bag by JJ Winters is $489 here instead of $689 at Fred Segal. Some Dolce & Gabbana suede wedge shoes were $169. These retail at over $400. A stunning pair of Manola Blahnik pumps were 60% off at $189 instead of $420.
The clothes are gorgeous. Here there is something for every price range. Some Meli Melo jeans were super affordable at $89 instead of $200. A gold lace blouse by Rebecca Taylor was $69 instead of $150. Some incredibly cute striped stretch pants by Tark were only $49. A super cute powder blue car coat by Marc Jacobs was $229 instead of $550. A new St. John Knits skirt set was $500 instead of $1100 and a fabulous distressed leather jacket complete with removable fox collar by Gianni Versace Black label would run you over $3000 in boutiques. Here it's $698. You'll even find a terrific grouping of cocktail and evening wear like a Versace fully beaded black cocktail dress for $389 instead of $3000.
You'll also find new designer belts and accessories like sunglasses by Chloe, Armani, Fendi at 50% off retail and cosmetics by Chanel, La Mer, and La Prarie. Rodeo Drive Resale has excellent service with a friendly knowledgeable staff. They'll start your own client profile and call you when your favorite designers come in. Combining both classic couture and cutting edge is difficult at best, but Rodeo Drive Resale succeeds at both with a great selection for all fashion divas.
